The ACT community has the potential to better science and society.

There are a few basic challenges.

  1. How do we grow and educate the community efficiently?
  2. How do we connect with other domains and gain funding?
  3. How do we determine and coordinate around shared goals?

We need better social infrastructure to realize our potential.

This Working Group is to create an online directory of persons and activities related to Applied Category Theory, to improve the flow of knowledge and help people connect for learning and collaboration.

We've begun to plan the project, and it’s time to open the development to those who share a vision for ACT. We hope you join in helping to empower our community.

excerpts —

This proposal addresses several conclusions of the NIST 2018 Workshop on Applied Category Theory [1]. We outline some of the relevant points in §6. We recognize that the ACT community transcends boundaries of academia, industry, discipline, and experience. (self-determination) It is left to create its own spaces, such as Conexus AI and Topos Institute.

The ACT database is meant to provide an open view of the people, activity, trends, and ideas of applied category theory to all who are interested – from established practitioners to high school students, from mathematicians to domain specialists.
